The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
UNITED WOMEN IN FAITH HISTORY
United Women in Faith is the official women’s organization of the United Methodist Church. We are approximately 800,000 strong in membership internationally and celebrated our 150 year anniversary in 2019. We at FUMC are part of this autonomous organization within the greater Church.
The work of United Methodist Women is mission, which includes advocacy and service. As United Methodist women we give voice to the unheard, raise up women leaders through education and leadership development, and perform in acts of service, we are engaged in mission both locally and internationally. We provide Deaconess’ and Home Missioners to programs or agencies of The United Methodist Church.
Structurally separate from Global Ministries, United Women in Faith continue the same work, and our funding comes from the local United Women in Faith like us at FUMC, who make a monetary pledge annually. We have fundraisers as needed, to support local missions, and the annual pledge to our NW District, which in turn supports our Arkansas Conference of United Women in Faith. Our mission partners are worldwide.
United Women in Faith members join in God’s mission to be transformed by their relationship with God through prayer, study and the empowering of the Holy Spirit. They raise awareness of social justice issues and engage in service and advocacy on behalf of women, children and youth globally.
Our Circles provide education on the focused issues of United Women in Faith and engage in Bible studies for spiritual growth. Mission Giving provides the necessary support for the goals of United Women in Faith as an integral part of the whole mission of The United Methodist Church to make Disciples of Jesus Christ.
If you would like to join United Women in Faith, membership is voluntary and open to all women committed to or engaged in mission (making a pledge) who affirm the PURPOSE. Membership in the United Methodist Church is not required.
